David Hoffmann

Founder & Chairman

David Hoffmann is a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. As the founder and chairman of Hoffmann Family of Companies, he leads a family-owned network of enterprises that employs over 16,000 people worldwide. This network includes more than 200 distinct brands and properties spanning 30 countries.

In 1989, David founded DHR Global (formerly DHR International) and grew it into one of the largest privately-held executive search firms in the industry. This success was the catalyst for creating the Hoffmann Family of Companies, which has since evolved into one of the largest family offices globally, driving the family’s philanthropic efforts.

David’s remarkable achievements, particularly given the adversities he faced growing up, earned him the Horatio Alger Award in 2023. He also received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Central Missouri, his alma mater, where he served as the 2022 Commencement Speaker.

Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate, a major division of the family office, manages U.S. real estate assets worth more than $1 billion and has played a crucial role in revitalizing communities in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, Missouri, and other cherished locations.

David has been featured on the Forbes Billionaires List for four consecutive years. He contributes to numerous charitable causes across the United States, particularly in his native Missouri and his adopted home state of Florida. Most recently, David and his wife Jerri made significant donations to the Naples Botanical Garden and Florida Gulf Coast University.

David is a dedicated supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County, Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), Brightpoint Chicago (formerly Children’s Home & Aid), the Chicago Club, the Everglades Foundation, the Naples Players Community Theatre, and the Washington County 4-H Club (Missouri). He currently serves on the boards of the Naples Children & Education Foundation, the Naples Zoo, and the Horatio Alger Association, and is affiliated with the Joffrey Ballet (Chicago), Type 1 Timer (T1T) Hockey, and Steppenwolf Theater Company (Chicago).

David and Jerri are the proud parents of three children and thirteen grandchildren.
