Lev Gurman serves as Director of Risk Management and Insurance at HF Companies, where he oversees the design and execution of innovative risk management strategies. A driven leader, he works closely with portfolio companies, proactively engaging with leaders and insurance brokers to enhance coverage and negotiate competitive premiums. Lev’s collaborative approach emphasizes identifying tailored solutions that align with each portfolio company’s unique needs, leveraging innovative strategies to manage risk, reduce costs, and protect assets.
Prior to joining the HF Companies, Lev spent 6 years as Vice President of Risk Management at a Publicly traded company, 8 years as a Specialty Commercial Lines Insurance Underwriting Group Manager at a Private Equity owned company, 5 years as a Buy Side Fixed Income Portfolio Money Manager at two large distressed credit Hedge Funds, 4 years as a turnaround management and performance improvement Consultant and 1 year as a Distressed Corporate Debt Sell Side Investment Banker.
Lev has a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter “CPCU” designation, an Illinois Insurance Producer Property and Casualty License, and an Associate in Risk Management “ARM” designation. Additionally, he is a member of the Risk Management society “RIMS” and served as the Chapter Board President for Chicago’s CPCU Chapter for 4 years.
Lev, his wife Yulia, and their two daughters Emilia and Sophie reside in the Chicago Northshore Suburbs and enjoy traveling to exotic places around the world while maintaining an active lifestyle through gym classes, skiing, cycling, running and tennis.
